MASSENA — St. Lawrence Centre will be hosting its first psychic and holistic wellness fair next weekend, an event that mall officials are hoping to turn into an annual occurrence.
“They’re really successful at the Best Western in Canton, where they have been holding shows for years,” said Lindsey S. Breitbeck, St. Lawrence Centre marketing assistant. “We’re hoping to have that kind of success here.”
Ms. Breitbeck said the event will include about a dozen exhibitors, including tarot card readers, palm readers, paranormal investigation teams and more.
“They’ll be here to offer their services for a fee,” she said, adding that admission to the event itself is free.

Wanda Winters is an intuitive psychic who is organizing the event.
“This is an extension of the Mystical Journey Holistic and Psychic Faire we have in Canton every year,” Ms. Winters said, adding that for their first event in Massena, they’re starting small.
“I brought it to Massena to expand on what we have already,” she said, noting the show in Canton draws people from Massena, Akwesasne and Malone.
“There’s definitely an interest there,” she said.
In addition to Ms. Winters, who will be offering her psychic and spiritual counseling services, the event will include Joanna Lipton, who specializes in past life readings, and astrologist Dennis Cole.
Georgia Cunningham, who owns and edits the Metaphysical Times, will be offering chiromancing services.
“It’s an ancient way of reading hands,” Ms. Winters said. “It’s kind of like a palm reading, but it’s more involved.”
The psychic portion of the event will also include Sarina, a psychic medium who communicates with the dead, and Barbara Bennett, whom Ms. Winters identified as a fellow intuitive psychic.
Healers and vendors at the event include Kelly Curry, who offers individual spirit art; Joseph and Marion Davis, who sell Western Vision stones, crystals and other collectibles, and Brenda Eggleston, who specializes in aura photography.
Dr. Renee DeSocio will be at the event offering bionic hydrotherapy and detoxifying foot baths.
Perhaps the biggest draw, though, for people from Massena will be the PISToLS (Paranormal Investigations of the St. Lawrence Seaway).
Ms. Winters said it will be offering spots for a ghost hunt planned April 22 at Spanky’s Diner.
“They only have room for so many people,” Ms. Winters said, adding all of the money collected through the event will be donated to the Red Cross.
Ms. Breitbeck said the fair will be held in the former “Rave” store, between the food court and center court.
It will run from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. April 21 and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 22.
While this is the mall’s first attempt at hosting such an event, Ms. Breitbeck said, she’s hopeful that it won’t be the last.
“We would love to make this an annual event and see it get bigger and bigger every year,” she said.
