Even if we don’t quite believe, most of us are secretly fascinated by people who say they can see ghosts, talk to the dead or otherwise communicate with those who have passed on.
Theresa Caputo, TV’s “Long Island Medium,” attempts to do just that in her current stage show, which makes a stop at the Fox Theatre on Sunday. Caputo’s series returns at 8 p.m. May 12 for a fourth season on TLC.
But she’s just one of the psychic mediums who have been embraced by TV viewers. Here are five more:
Sylvia Browne: A one-time “Montel Williams” regular, Brown (who’s from Kansas City) now gives psychic readingson radio.
John Edward: Endorsed by TV Dr. Mehmet Oz, Edward specializes in making connections with the dead, saying that can help survivors deal with grief.
Char Margolis: In frequent television appear–ances, Margolis may be most famous for announcing that talk show host Kelly Ripa was pregnant, before Ripa had told “Live” co-host Regis Philbin.
James Van Praagh: A producer of “Ghost Whisperer,” which featured Jennifer Love Hewitt as a medium, Van Praagh bills himself as a clairvoyant who communicates with the dead. Ted Danson played him in a 2002 TV movie.
Lisa Williams: In two shows on Lifetime, including “Life Among the Dead,” Williams said she’d contacted dead celebrities including Bob Hope and Princess Diana.
